Sticky Problem

Any one got a solution to get a patch of road tar off a tire? A freind got a good size patch on a tire and it makes noise like the tire is going flat. We figure it will wear off eventually, but would like to get it off now. I was thinking of putting a bag of ice on it then using a wide scraper, it is really stuck on there.

I had the same thing happen last summer. I just got out a flat blade screwdriver and scraped it off. There was some residue left and that wore off on it's own.
