Hey guys,

I was wondering if anybody had a rattle that sounded like it was in the dash or something of that nature. It's driving me crazy, it will make it going down the road and it gets louder as I hit bumps in the road. Its a squeeking/rattle. I am about to go crazy. Anybody have any idea's? :chevy:

I had something like that, that DROVE ME INSANE to the point of not buying another chevy cause I was so mad I couldn't find it.

BUT....I found it.......Underneath the driverside look for where the Ebrake cable comes out underneath. You can see where it goes through the bottom of the truck if you follow it from where you push it to make it Lock. Well from underneath it goes into a metal sleeve and bends back towards the back of the truck. Well that sleeve was rubbing againts the frame. I couldn't belive something like that could make that noise. The noise definitly sounded like it was coming from the dash but the sound was traveling up the Ebrake cable so thats why it sounded like it was inside. I just bent the sleeve a bit and it fixed the prob.

I hope that helps.

Good lord I hope that's where mine is! It's coming from somewhere in or under the dash on the driver's side just as described above. I've pushed, pulled, punched, kicked, spit, and cursed every piece plastic or metal I can get my hands on while I'm driving and NOTHING has any effect on the rattle / squeak / annoyance. Mark, if bending that sleeve fixes the rattle I'm tracking you down (maybe you shouldn't have put Tulsa in your name, muwahahaha!!!) and giving you a big wet one! :sigh:

Ok, so maybe just a big Thank You! :chevy:

Man I hope that is your problem. Its a cheap easy thing to fix.

But man I had never been so mad in my life whenever it would get real bad.

At first it sounded like a squeaky shock from inside the truck but it definitly wasn't that. And then I thught it was worse on moist days, and better on dry days.....but then summer came and threw that idea out the window. :fume:

But I trully was getting to the point of taking it to the stealership to have them fix it. And just paying out the butt to fix it.

Keep us updated if that fixed it. And I'll pass on the kiss.

Well, I went out and tried to fix it. I hope it works. I saw one part where it bend upwards to go into the truck that was touching the frame but it looks like its insulated. If that doesnt fix it then I will re-check it again.

I know what you mean about it being insulated I didn't think that could make the sound but it did for me.
