i just got some new speakers for my 2003 silverado regualr cab for the front door, the door has the little tweeter plus the 6 1/4 speaker. taking out the stock speaker i realized they use a plastic clip in mounting thingy yea that. anybody know if there is an aftermarket piece that will allow you to put ur new speakers in a similar thing then just clip it in???

thanks

I mounted tweeters on the interior door panel (behind the grill). Then used the plastic, modified to mount the new driver. Dynamat it.

I think you're referring to the 6 1/2" speaker's mounting, right?

Even though GM uses those plastic snap-in brackets, I think they do that so that the speaker is installable by the guy on the production line in .05 seconds, which equates to .001 cents savings, so everybody wins!

But when you're already spending hours doing your sound system upgrade, a few minutes extra time spent screwing speakers in is nothing. Otherwise if you tried to reuse their snap-in plastic adaptor, you could end up with a buzz or rattle.
