What is the best Injector cleaner to run thru the Vortec motors?

Truck has about 36k miles on it and I'm thinking it's time to run some cleaner thru the injectors, my fuel mileage has been dropping and I'd like to get it back up to par.

Any suggestions?

I've hear royal purple has some good stuff.

Thanks.

I've used STP and Gumout treatments. I use them everytime I change the oil. No problems. . .no real results either. Just makes me feel better I guess.

Murray's Discount Auto carries Techron up here. I want to say Advance Auto Parts has it as well. Black bottle with a blue label.

Be careful of using harsh additives all the time because our fuel pumps are in the tank, and you don't want harsh additives to eat the windings. Periodic is ok, but try switching to good gasoline.

Also repeated use of some additives will leave ash deposits on plugs.....

Go easy and use every once in a while, not all the time....and you should be fine.

Just wanted to throw some precautionary info out on fuel systems. I bought my truck just about 8-9 months ago and it wasn't long before the service light came on. The dealer finally found that the last injector was clogged. Well they cleaned it and the light stayed off for 2 days. Light came back on. The did a comlete fuel service at the tune of a few hundred bucks and once again two days later ... light comes on. At this point they keep the truck for almost a week and finally find out that the fuel pump was rusting and sending super fine rust sludge through the system and the #7 injector was catching it on the way to the cylinder. No sediment or crap in the tank; just the rusting fuel pump. Make a long story short -- tank purged, pump replaced, a second total system flush and now everything is OK. I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND keeping no less than a half tank of fuel in at all times. I'm thinking that since the gas prices were so high last year that the previous owner couldnt' afford to keep the tank filled and the pump was getting warm from not being submersed in the fuel and THAT caused condesation leading to surface rust. I now use a good quality fuel sytem cleaner with every other fill up and keep the fuel over half as much as possible.

I put 3 cans of ChemTool into a full tank at every oil change ~5000 miles.

Can't say it fixes anything but makes me feel good.

Haven't heard anyone using the STP stuff mainly because of the overpriced marketing of it.

Techron is amazing. I use it in all my 4 stroke engines. My old snowblower would only run with the choke on and poorly at that. I added a bit of Techron and less than 3 minutes later there was a cloud of black smoke and it ran perfectly afterwards.

It cleaned up a serious misfire twice in the truck and also in the wife's Pontiac Vibe.

My mom was having acceleration issues on her Jeep, someone told her the injectors were clogged, I had her run 2 cans of the Techron through 2 tanks of gas. Fixed the problem. I just use Chevron.
