black tail pipe

I have an 04 1500 crewcab with the 5.3l z71 it has 8k on it now and I noticed yesterday that the tail pipe is covered in carbon. I have had the oil changed twice and use mainly 87 oct gas in the truck. It is all stock except for the tune I installed on the 9th. I drive on the highway about 10 miles to and from work @ an average speed of 50mph. Is this normal? Thanks for any replys

sorry this is about a 1/2" around the outside of the pipe

Normal- no.

Sounds like you're running way rich. Has your gas mileage dropped off ?? Anything else changed ??

When my jeep started doing this, found a bad O2 sensor. Both, actually. At $100 each

I think the answer was in the mail The wife just called to asked what I ordered that came ups.(k&n fipk) The light just turned on. I had jesse tune my truck for a k&n fipk kit and my gibson cat back that have not made it on the truck yet. Could this be the problem why I'm running to rich? I guess I will switch computers till I get everything on. Boy do I feel like an idiot
