Granatelli Ignition Wires

Is anyone using Granatelli ignition wires? From Granatelli Motor Sports .

I just got done reading an article in the September issue of Chevy High performance magazine that stated they gained 15.3 hp at 5250 rpm on a 5.3L.

Apparently, as the caption reads under one of the pictures, “The original AC Delco wire exhibited a 958-ohm reading compared to the Granatelli wire of less-then 1 ohm (0.50 measured) . “

Anyone else read the article?

Article lists Granatelli Wires from Summit Racing , # GRN-47000 at $160.99 / set of 8. (Summit’s web site lists ‘em at $195.00)

What do you guys think???

Are they worth the money for increase HP and maybe better gas mileage???

Ive certainly never heard of gaining 15 hp out of a set of wires alone..............did the performance magazine indicate if any other ignition components were replaced???....................sounds to good to be true..................but if they can make that much of a differnece..........its a prety cheap mod for 15+ hp. :jester:

Yea I read that kinda hard to believe. They changed only the wires and got an extra 15Hp,wasn't that at the rear wheels? On a mustang dyno?

I read the article. I was actually considering the nology hotwires for my truck. I guess I'm just gonna stick with the stock wires. I have been thinking about going with the Iridium plugs. I don't really know if they'll make a difference or not. Thanks for posting the article.

How often do you run 5250 rpm?

Great point on the RPM. Before you get crazy with modifications that promise increased hp, make sure to look at the hp curve for the product. I never run over 3500 RPM on my Yukon Denali and have a hard time imagining exceeding 5000 RPM. The same goes for CAI which typically only offer performance gains at high RPMs. If you can't realize the benefits based on your driving habits, don't waste your money on aftermarket mods or products.

Great article by Magnecor. Does anyone know if you can get Magnecor wires for the 5.3? If so, a website would be great!

I got Magnecor wires from our site's supporting vendor Tbyre.

I just checked all my wires today when I changed my plugs. All are between .960 and .965 on the 20K setting on my multimeter. 15 hp gain at 5000 rpm, like it was said before, when do you go that high. I can think of only one time 5000 in 4 low, not in this truck.

I don't know if I can claim the wires are responsible for any mileage improvements, but they definitely seemed to make the truck run smoother. I think tire pressure, some fuel system cleaner, and the like have done more for my mileage.
