Yukon water leak

I have a 2000 Yukon XL (4X4) and live in a hot, humid climate. The carpet in front of the back (second row) seat between the edge of the seat and the LH door is getting saturated with water. This does not seem to have any relation to when it rains, so I assume it is related to the A/C evaporator not draining properly. I have run a wire through the Evaporator drain line in the engine firewall. No real obstructions were found, but some water drained out as I was running the wire back and forth in the line. However, problem still occurs.

Inside the vehicle, I have pulled panels and carpeting up in area getting wet. I do not see a seepage path to this area. Water does not appear to be coming from either the front of back but still continues to be wet.

I have chamis cloth in vicinity to absorb water.

Any suggestions on the water source and a resulting solution?

Water leaks are one of the worst jobs we get in service. Everyone hates them and a lot of techs outright refuse to work on them.

It's difficult to find where the water is entering the vehicle, and even if you find that, it doesn't necessarily tell you where the leak begins. It could have an open seam on the drivers side, the water follows a seam or component and come out the passenger side.

The first step is to determine if it's AC or rain/wash water. Yank the carpeting back and dry everything near the AC case, run the AC for as long as you can while watching for water to run down the floor pan. You may have to drive it.

If it's not AC, then get a hose out and start water testing. You'll need the carpeting out because most water leaks don't fall on the surface of the carpeting. They come out from under a panel and run under the carpeting. You never notice you have a leak until the water builds up enough and soaks through or you start to smell the mold/mildew.

Good luck.

I don't see how it could be coming from the A/C if it's wet on the driver side (LH) rear seat area. the evap. is under the passenger front and right rear (curb side) rear cargo area

check the following other areas:

* door seals

* rear stationary cargo window seal

* roof rack bolts (a friends jeep had a broken roof rack anchor and the water ran down the post to the floor)

* rusted through floor board and or wheel well area

* missing anchor bolt through floor board for seat or seat belts

*leaking grommets on floor (check parking brake cable)

* missing water shield behind door panel on side thats getting wet
