K&N FIPK too noisy?

I realized it's loud under acceleration, but today I found out it's also loud at 80mph, like there was this constant resonance coming from the intake tube. And it almost never went away at that speed. I gotta admit, I don't think I will enjoy that. Is this normal? Can you put sound insulation around the tube or something?

dont think batting in that area would do much for you

some sound dampening material in the cab floor/firewall would help a lot, if u did the doors, backwall and roof also it would help with road/wind noise also

it is pretty easy to remove the seats carpet ect to install that stuf or a stereo shop could do it

dynamat is the well know brand, but pricy for high-tech tar paper. there are other brands that are just as good but much more reasonable

I'm w/ raventai, get some sound deadening at the local hardware store.  It'll be about 1/20th the price of dynamat and should work just the same.  It's a good idea to do it anyways since it will cut down on road noise as well.  My K&N is loud, but I really haven't noticed it that much.  If I have some music on or even the heater blowing I don't hear it.  Mine was really loud when I first got it, but after a week or two it didn't seem as loud.

just noticed u have a suburban (sorry, figured u had a truck)

I have heard the suburbans/blazers/jimmys ect. get bad reverb. from exaust noise at freeway speeds as the cabin is open to all that area, sound dampening would be a good idea maybe eaven 2 layers

do the doors floor firewall sidewall in the back and maybe eaven the roof

Yeah,  I have a Tahoe and noticed some rear exhaust roar at 80 to 85 this weekend.   I still would not think of giving up the Flow or the FIPK!!  I could never go back to the way it was.    It sounds like it is coming in at the bottom of the  lift gate ,  so I will look at trying to insulate there.   I plan to just try a very thick blanket at the bottom of the lift gate.   The noise is not too bad up front but could probably get to people in the back seat.
