i had a similar problem on my 96 s-10... it would work when i jiggled the wire harness going into the wiper motor. Ended up having the motor circuit board replaced.

I would price out a new wiper motor or scour some junkyards.

my wipers stop moving on my 98 sonoma.  when i push on the wiper arms it starts moving again.  could it be the motor or should i look into something else

You might find that you are losing your ground intermittenly ,I have heard of this

happening on varios GMC 98 products.

Try some way of connecting another ground from Wiper motor to body somewhere.

If your handy take the motor out and check where the connector attaches.

The problem from what I gather is to much strain from the wires on connector

and with vibration breaking the connection inside the motor on circut board ,usully the ground. Which can be solderd.

I have a '94 S10 that I've had since it was new. It's the delay timer for the wipers. On my year model truck this is located on the firewall on the driver side. When it would happen, you can ever tap the timer, and the wipers would come on.

Look at replacing this to solve the problem.

The recall was for a reoccuring problem where the wipers would stop and "sometimes" start by themselves. The trouble was chased to a problem with the solder joints for circuitry board. They would develop cracks.

The recall called for "replacement" of the board & resealing the box.

Check with the dealership yours may be covered. :shakehead:
