Brake/Rotor Problems

Ok when we first bought the truck, every time you stepped on the brakes it pulled hard to the left.  We could see there were some grooves in the rotors so we took it back to the lot.  They replaced both front rotors & pads.  The problem went away completely for about 3 weeks, and all of a sudden it's starting to do it again.  I know certain cars are prone to certain problems, but does anyone else have any problems with their brakes/rotors?

We gotta bleed the brake line and make sure there is no air in there, but I was just curious if this is common or not.

Thanks

*sorry meant to put this in the light duty section, but I think it can still be answered :D*

Hopefully this isn't the case, but it's happened to me so I'll mention it just the same.

I had the same pull on another vehicle.  They replaced the pads and turned the rotors.  Went away for several months but eventually returned.  Next they replaced the rotors which solved the problem for a few weeks then it came back.  I found out that they just put the same pads back on after they changed the rotors so the grooves that were on the pads just got worked back into the new rotors.  (Can't understand why since pads are pretty cheap).  Anyway, the whole experience taught me a couple of things.

1)  If you get the rotors turned, go to a good place that frequently changes out the blade on the machine that resurfaces the rotors.

2)  Make sure they replace the pads.  (This shouldn't really be necessary to say, but like I said, they did it to me once).

Sarah,

I just found this on alldata.com

99-05-24-001A  SEP 99       Brake Lead  /  Pull and Front Brake Wear

No info though. Ask around to see if anyone is a member.

Just wait for John (gmnewproductinfo) to get here, I think he'll be able to look it up for you.

I've seen quite a few vehicles have a brake pull which actually is caused by a bad radial tire.  You wouldn't happen to know if the brake pads that came out had uneven wear would you?  If so, it could be a sticking brake caliper or something amiss involving the ABS modulator.

There is a TSB out about replacing the pads and turning the rotors. Had it done at the 3000 mile mark with my silverado (I didn't go in for that problem. Tech noticed it and did the fix).

Wow, they really said turn the rotors in the TSB?  GM has pretty much been "Do not resurface the rotors unless there is a shimmy."  Those composition rotors are kinda tricky to turn.
