Rain & Horns

Does any one else have a problem with their horns when it rains? I ran through some big mud puddles and the horns hardly worked at all. They were replaced and I got a speach about my driving. I am sorry, but I thought I bought a truck, it should be able to take a few puddles.

Then it rained and the same thing happend. This time I did not run through the puddles, just wet roads. To make a long story short I had them replaced FOUR times. GM put the horns by the wheel, what do they think is going to happen?

Hopefully I can convince the dealer to relocate them.

I took out my stock one and put a louder one up higher in the engine compartment.  Not to get it out of the water, but because I was to lazy to mount it in the stock spot (I'll get around to it).  This is something you can do yourself very easily.

MTMACE I had that happen to mine also, but I actually had one side of my truck slip into a mud wallow and muddy water got into it.  It just takes a little bit of water to rust up the little components in them.  Dealer replaced it with no problems at all.

CHEVY  cool idea! :D

I had 3 horns (left side of truck) replaced under warrenty. The 2nd lasted 3 weeks so I replaced the third myself. When I did this I switched the left side with the right so the horns would point downward. So far after a year it seems to have worked.Must be some kind of 1st model run goofup.  ;)

The dealer tried to install them different way and even drill a hole in the back so the water would not pool and nothing worked. I like the relocation idea. But not sure how hard that is. Sounds pretty easy but we will see.

Speaking of horns...does anyone know if there is a horn that plays that thing that was on Dukes of Hazzard?  I've always wanted one of those.

Why do I just know that The General will have an answer to this?????

My horn sounds exceptionally wimpy in the rain...I really want to upgrade to something with some more testostorone...like the "luxury liner " horn in jc whitney...anybody have that one?

on my truck it was actually easier to relocate it than it was to put it back in the stock location.  Although, I've only used my horn about 10x since I got the truck and 5 of those were to test the new horn.

Sometimes I want a horn that is so loud the sound pressure would push the car out of the way in front of me.Even as an overdefensive driver I am still amazed at what ignorance some people have.Or just plain dumbness!
