I haven't done anything to it yet, but I have grilles and weatherflectors waiting to go on. Here's an Imagestation album with some quick first pics.

2006 Grand Prix

Run-down of the specs:

2006 Grand Prix "base", now the same as what WAS the GT

Interior: Leather-wrapped wheel and shift knob, brushed aluminum accents, XM/MP3/CD radio, side head curtain airbags, ebony cloth seats, 5-button driver information center with trip computer, OnStar, remote start.

Exterior/mechanical: 16" Polished aluminum wheels, dual-outlet exhaust, 3.8L V-6 with electronic throttle, 4-speed auto, enhanced traction control (ABS-modulated and throttle modulation).

That's the basics plus a little bit. I'll get more pics in there eventually.

Thanks. I haven't gotten it over 3,000 RPM yet, still not over 50 miles on it. It seems quick, I can't wait till I can open it up. More pics will come tomorrow, adding the grilles, though it'll be a little dusty (already is), gonna be HARD keeping this car clean...

But it looks GORGEOUS when clean. I never gave you guys the pic with the grilles installed. Try this:

I'm happy with how it turned out. No more mods planned for now, just want to get some miles under it, up over 200 now. I'll get more pics, maybe this weekend, but I need to wash it first...

I have gotten a few new body style Grand Prix’s in GT and Sedan form as rentals from National Rental Car over the past year or so. They are nice cars with plenty of nut but it is real hard to get excited about yet another GM 3.8L V-6 W body car with a 30 year old engine architecture on an almost 20-year-old chassis design. I must say that was not very impressed with the skinned basketball texture throughout the interior on this generation GP though. I wonder if Spalding is still trying to figure out where all their basketballs went??

Aside from that, the GP handles like it was on rails and would run circles around other cars in its class rolling on newer architecture. The GP is one of my favorite pics when I am roaming around the National Emerald Isle on Monday mornings in any given city USA. The new Impala LTZ with the new 3.9L is a close second. Picked up my second one this week at Chicago Midway Airport. My favorite rental cars are still the Chrysler 300C or Dodge Magnum SXT but they are hard to come by in rentals fleets.

what else do you drive?

i had a '03 GT http://www.sounddomain.com/ride/382879 which i traded for a Ford Ranger (little better) and then i got my Tahoe which i wouldn't trade for anything

Me? Just the GP. Sold the ZR2 to buy it, regrettably. Wish I could have both, but almost $600 a month in payments would NOT have been my ideal lifestyle. Between the loan and insurance, I'm paying under $500 a month to drive that, plus I get decent MPG, first tank was just under 19, with lots of idling, in city driving and a virgin engine (4 miles when I picked it up).
