sound problem with lux amp

Recommended Posts

Hi I hope someone can help with this I just finished my lux nav hu install in my 05 Z71 crew cab, I got the lux amp upgrade from jp customs, everything works as far as the steering wheel controls sound fields ect the only problem is when you turn on the rear entertainment it does not mute the rear speakers like it did with the non lux in dash 6cd radio, with the original 6 cd radio when you turn on the dvd or the radio controls at the rear of the console a headphone icon would appear on the radio display & the rear speakers would mute so you could hear the headphones better, I can change the balance to solve this but that would be a pain to have to do as I have 2 boys using the rear entertainment often, I read this entire thread at least 3 times before I bought the pieces to do this change & have not seen mention of this problem anywere, thanks for any help

Got a couple of things you can check out...Unplug the RSE controller on the console and see if the radio then turns the rear speakers to Mute because the default for the radio is to Mute the rear speakers if no RSE controller is detected. I think all of the DVD lines come in through the 12 pin connector on the back of the radio so you can unplug that from the rear of the radio as well to check for Mute.

Maybe one of the electrical experts here can speak to this, but on the 24 pin connector, pin B-6 is Amp Mute for 800 non-LUX radios. I think this line is Ampsense for LUX radios. On the 12 pin connector, pin F-6 is reserved for amp Mute. I know on my non-LUX truck I had absolutely nothing in the 12 pin connecotr F-6 line so check that out (F-6 is at the top right of the 12 pin connector, right next to the VSS line). Perhaps this has something to do with your audio problem.

Also, in vehicles with the console RSE and roof mounted DVD, a screen used to show up on the Navi with a host of audio options. Does your radio display that screen and if so, what are the options?
