low coolant warning

occasionly the low coolant light comes on, on the dash of my 02 silverado, the first time i pulled over to the side of the road and checked the coolant right away, was right up of course ;-) now i know its just b/s and im ignoring it when it happens, shutting the engine off and restarting it seems to fix the problem... any ideas whats going on. faulty sensor? can it be fixed? or disabled? appreciate any ideas guys.. thnks

My 02 did that as well. I went ahead and just added more to the reservoir, fixed the prob.

My 02 did that as well. I went ahead and just added more to the reservoir, fixed the prob.

its up where its supposed to be... no need for the light to be coming on

This happend to me on my 02 at 12k I was by the dealer so I pulled in and they unpluged the sensor under the reservoir and blew it out pluged it back in and no problem sence,

 

He said they get dirty and give a false read or if thet come unpluged it will also make the light come on
