Shifter position for towing

I know this may seem like a dumb question but going to ask it. When towing my boat should the shifter be in D or 3. I have the tow button pushed in and my Quadrasteer set to 4 wheel steer with tow as well. The truck is a 2005 4x4 extended cab with the 5.3l engine and towing package.

 

I could not find the answer to this question in the owners manual.
