Alpine System Competed

Hi guys, just a quick update on my stereo...I replaced all Bose equipment including the deck. I still have use of my OnStar, steering controls and chimes thanks to a few adaptors from PAC. PM me if you need specifics. Below is the final list ~1400 watts total. Sounds is quite loud and clean. Perfect blend of bass and highs with the dual 10"s. The deck is cool too, will play MP3's WMA's...and all crossover and audio adjustments are form the deck...I can control the F545 from the deck to adjust gain and it will show the temperature and voltage reaching the amp too! Really cool. Let me know if you have any questions. Yes, it was simple to replace the 4x6 with 6.5 alpines...just a little snipping with a saw, plate the speakers on hard board to prevent air exchange and they sound great! No beg deal at all for those insterested in changing the 4x6's out of the back.

CDA-9855 - very functional...allows complete control of everything, I even have a cord ran out under the cubby hole under the radio that I can hook up my MP3 player to...but it plays MP3 discs also, you can even run searches if you have a bunch of songs on a particular disc! The Biolite display is cool too BTW.

MRV-F545 running Type R-17LS in front and Type R-17LP in rear (and two alpine tweeters in the A pillar), note the amp is quite powerful and pushes these speakers to the limit if asked to do so...and beyond.

Sweet.

I was running an Alpine CDA-9885 on JL Audio 500/5 amp with Focal fronts, Pioneer rears and A JL "StealthBox" 12W3V2 12" sub enclosure. Let me tell you how much this system rocks over the Bose I have in my '05. :fume:

I am happy for you! I hope i can put one together again in this truck but right now my focus is on other things!

How did you handle the Onstar retention with an aftermarket amplifier. All of the adapters that I have seen use speaker wires, so how did you make that happen with the RCA cables from your head unit?

Yea, if you wouldn't mind posting pictures, as many as you can get, and also a parts list with possible prices. You have the exact truck I have, and I still have to go through the posts on changing out the Bose systems. Seems very confusing. Thanks.
