I am interested in trading in my 03 2X4 for a 06 2X4 VortecMax. Could someone please tell me IF you can Specil order a new truck with out OnStar and if so what else do you have to give up like power seat or some $hit. I can't seem to get an answer from my dealer or chevy.com

Thanks

just don't care to have on more thing to go wrong with the truck, and not that I fear BigBrother, I just don't like the police-state that this nation that I serve in the Army has become.

I went to Chevy.com and it shows ONSTAR as being optional on every model. To me, that would mean you could order one without it. If you want the LT package I would bet you would have to special order one without ONSTAR. It seems like every LT packaged truck I see has ONSTAR in it. Good luck

You don't have to get On-Star if you don't want to,For '06 On-Star does not come with any of the "LT" trucks,It is available as a separate option,You must also get the steering wheel radio controls to get On-Star,You can also get a package (Called the "On-Star Plus Package") that gives you On-Star,XM radio and the steering wheel radio controls all together.

If the only things keeping you from buying a truck is OnStar and your paranoia...Just unplug it.

I think OnStar is a good thing.

The main reason I wouldn't want Onstar and factory XM is because the antennae are so darn big and ugly. Why can't they come up with something hidden or sleeker. My XM antenna is very small.

Was your political diatribe really necessary? I really wish people would keep politics comments out of technical discussions. :banghead:

Although I agree about political comments, the question was asked why he didn't want the OnStar. He simply answered the question.

Wouldn't you be the police, in a police state? I feel very confident in the fact you can order a truck LT or SLT without Onstar and I feel just as confident the government has better things to do than monitor the millions of vehicles with GPS capabilities, the millions of cell phones with GPS technology, computer ISPs and so on and so forth.

All paranoid about government tracking/identification... What about the black boxes on new vehicles? I would be more concerned with that if I were in an accident and the information used against me.
