Haunted Temperature Display

Last week right after I mounted my plow on my truck, I noticed that the outside temperature display on the rear view mirror was acting very erratic. It was 25 degrees out but it said it was 60. At one point it read 100! It kept climbing and falling constantly.

 

A couple of days later I took the plow off and the display seemed to work correctly. And is still working.

 

I wonder if the sensor for the display is mounted up front somewhere and the plow was affecting the airflow to it. Maybe it was getting warm air from the engine compartment, causing the erratic readings.

 

Curious to see if anybody else had this happen.

The outside temp sensor is mounted on the radiator support behind the grille. The plow screws up all the airflow thru the grille and the radiator when it's on, that's why your readings are all messed up with the plow on.

DEWFRO is right mine did the samething when i put my plow on , the heat from your motor hasn't really got anyplace to go but right into your plow so it goes back towards the grill and it makes your outside temp read all wrong ! does look funny plowing when it's 60 out !

GUYS...............My temp readout also goes crazy with the blade on !

It actually says in my Dmax manual, that if I use the grill "blanket" on my truck in the winter, that the temp readout will basically be useless.
