06 Sierra sport box?

Im looking into getting a new 2006 GMC Sierra and was wondering if anyone knew if they still make the 2 door sport box/step side? I was looking at some of the prices on CarsDirect and couldn't find the price for the sportbox... Is there another name it goes under like SLE1 or something? And how much more is the sportbox to get added on?

Can't tell you if they still offer it, but a year or so ago when it was available, it cost something like $ 700 (retail) extra over the fleetside model.

Nope, neither Chevy or GMC offer the StepSide anymore.

That's why I jumped on mine this summer as it was during the big sale and it was "the last" stepside they would be getting. Then this winter a kid drug his hockey bag over the side of the truck while he was getting it out of the bed....a friend of my son's. Left a nice bid scratch on the top of the fender well and he knew better than to say a word...waited till I got home to find it. I was ready to pillage and plunder.

Ouch...I would kill. The only draw back to the Stepside is the sides are all plastic...

I'm kinda glad they don't offer them anymore. Never did like the looks of them. Makes me wonder why they ever made them in the first place, it's a truck isn't it?

Once again...this old chestnut. To each his own...I happen to love mine. And YES, trucks CAN be sporty...

I use mine for a daily commuter and hauling light material in the back. I don't tow with it as it's got the 4.8L and never planned on hauling tons of top soil or gravel. We've got a family car and wanted the truck for hauling home a furniture purchase or the new freezer I bought a while back - nothing major.

And yes, it's a truck but isn't what I use for towing. I've got my old truck for that. This one's simply for getting fantastic mileage while going to work or running errands. At first I was going to buy a full bed pickup but after looking in the bed at numerous pickups around the city, I notice few of them looked like they had been used much. With that in mind and knowing my personal use plans, I bought what made sense. It works just fine for my family. And yes, I LOVE MINE TOO!

Yea I thought that was kinda gay that they quit doin' em. I've gotta 94' and I think thats the best looking stepside they did. I like the newer ones too, but I guess there just wasn't much demand for it. I will say that the Chevy's looked kinda funny in stepside with the sharp looks of the front end and the smooth lines of the bed..its like it didn't match ya know?

I'd love to repaint mine and find a motor for it. Sounds like something that might be neat to see drivin' around in 20 years.

According to my dealer as well, the stepside was discontinued as of '06. I too, bought my '05 silverado ext. cab Z71 stepside during the red tag sale and went to a dealer that was a substantial distance away from me just to get the stepside bed. the truck is my daily driver and not a work truck. i think the stepside bed makes it look a lot sportier than the regular bed. just my personal opinion. the bed is narrower but that doesn't bother me. i like the fact that it stands out in a crowd in my area as i havent seen any newer model stepside's around.

I like the looks of the step side just absolutly kills the space in the bed though.Almost to the point were the truck bed is almost useless for hauling anything.

Youd be suprised what can fit back there. I fit 300 linear ft of 6' high chain link fence in three rolls, along with 30 6' poles for a total drive of about two hours and worked just fine. I also fit an entire living room set for my wifes best friend. Sofa, love seat, and chair...again that was about a two hour drive and it worked out fine. Kinda makes it easier with no wheel wells to deal with.
