Lift Suggestions

Hi all.

I have a 2005 GMC Sierra 2500 HD w/duramax. I have an RCD 6" lift and Im running 37's on 17" Weld rims. I'm rubbing a little when I turn and hit a bump. I want to go up another 3" so whats the best way to do this....body lift, bigger torsion keys, replace suspension with an 8"...?

Drive mostly on highway but do tow a 37' fifth wheel toyhauler. I have 6" Deaver springs and airbags going on soon.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I like my body lift. Especially for towing, helps keep the center of gravity lower than suspension lifts, which in your case you've already raised it considerably so I would be weary of going any higher. Body lift might be tricky around the fifth wheel area, but would be much more stable because the trailer doesn't gain any more leverage over the truck. The higher you raise the hitch point the easier it will be for the trailer to control the truck.

P.S. My truck is stock suspension wise, with just a body lift and it tows just like it did before the body lift.

Are you using the rear blocks that are supplied by RCD with the kit and if so does your truck sit level now?

Thanks for the help guys.

Installed the custom Deavers today so the rear block is gone. It sits about 1" lower in the rear...hate that! Talked to a couple of shops and they said that a body lift with a suspension lift isnt good...not to mention that the body lift for a diesel takes about 12-14 hours to install. They said if I am gonna do it right....replace the 6" RCD lift with a 8 or 10" lift. I could re-key the torsion bars and put a 2" block under the rear leafs but I wanted to get away from the blocks under the leafs. That would be the cheap way.

Any recommendations on an 8-10" suspension lift? I know Fabtech makes an 8".

Thanks again

Don
