Anyone holding out for the redesign?

I've been lurking for a quite a while here on the forum. Lot's of good info out here. Anywhoo, I just spent a fair amount of time looking at the redesigned Chevy's and GMC's.

 

I gotta tell you, I've got a nasty feeling that I'm gonna like the new Silverado's! :cheers:

 

I think GM has hit a homerun with this redesign and they're going to be selling new vehicles like gangbusters! That means I can forget about getting Employee Pricing+0% financing+etc for a long, LONG time.

 

On the other hand, there is going to be a huge influx of used trades coming in as people "upgrade" to the new styling.

 

I know its a little premature, but what are you all going to do? Do you like the new styling and if the Silverado's/Sierra's are equally as SWEET as the new SUV's will you make the jump?

 

OR, will you take advantage of the potential buyer's market for 2004 - 2006 used trucks coming in on trade?

Let's see. GM needs to make more money, so the cost of the RNBS (really new body style) truck has to be trimmed to make that happen. So they might have some new bells and whistles, but do you really think they can be a better value?

 

I don't.

 

And who knows what new big brother automation they will have.

I am holding out myself..not ready to buy a truck just yet anyway, but I'm planning ahead (GM Card, forums, etc.). I think the Duramax/Allison combo will change very little in GMT-900 (it is d**n good already), but the new body style and interior design will probably be much better IMO. I hold no loyalty to the current or past designs. To me they are a bit dated and not particularly tough looking, although I would definitely live with them if need be. I am also curious to see if they go to coils up front and offer 18" or 20" wheel packages with wider tires (305 mm?).

 

There will be deals on the new ones too, don't worry.

Wife and I like looks of new Tahoe...and GM sent me a brochure about a month ago (probably because we have purchased four new trucks/SUV's in past six years).

 

I was lukewarm over looks when first saw it, but now growing on me. Love all the enhancements and sat in one at car show. Amazing! Wife started talking about trading her 03 Burban, but neighbor helped me put squash on that...

 

He was looking at new 07 Tahoe's...and didn't like the price. Dealer cut him great deal on 06, so he got his wife one fast. I hope the wife can hold off a year or two on her Burb.

 

My CC only has 23k miles on it and I absolutely love the truck. I'm pretty sure I'll keep it for duration of the loan (60 months @ 0% financing is tough to give up!). I'd also like to let GM work some of the bugs out of this new design. Although my 99 Silverado was a great truck in their first year of production.

Yeah, I waited right up until GM offered the LBZ Duramax engine with 360 HP and 650 ft/lbs of torque, the six-speed Allison 1000 and the trailer mirrors of my dreams in the late-season 2006+ 2500HD.

 

No matter how good GM shakes down the 2007, there are going to be some glitches. My new truck has a time-proven body and enough of the new goodies (engine, tranny and mirrors) to make this cowboy happy.

 

LOVE IT.

I'm buying a new 2500HD CC with the D/A combo when the new trucks come out. I'm selling my current truck right now, so I'll be without a truck until the new ones come out. :crazy: From the camo spy pics, the new 900 HD's look much bigger in stance than current HD's. I'll be putting some 18x10 rims with 33's as soon as I get off the dealer's lot. I can't stand the 245's on the HD trucks! I won't buy the first production runs, probably 4 or 5 months after they have been out I'll start to look. Chris

It'll be another three years before I purchase another vehicle, but I ***think*** youse guyz are concentrating too much on styling/looks. There's going to be other features on this truck that could be compelling to consider, such as bed storage compartment areas, possible bed side gate, better interior quality.

yes, a modern interior for once is what I'll be most impressed with. The current D/A combo is good enough for me, and I doubt the looks will get worse for the exterior. By the way, I think the gmt-900 SUVs are retaining all of gauges in the dash cluster. Nice to see since it has been a trend in the automobile industry to give us fewer and fewer gauges.

      I'm not sure if this should be a new topic, let me know if it's out of place. This my first post. Thanks 85077522 - AC Delco GM Genuine Parts Brake Master Cylinders. Anyone else had to replace this brake master cylinder yet. I didn't do any brake work, it looks like new parts and I've had the truck for about 4k miles, 119k total miles.  When it started to throw codes I did the calibrations with a bidirectional scanner and got the codes to clear but they came back so I did the routine; base bleed, automated bleed and final base bleed. All that with Bosch ES16-32N fluid (please look it up). That seemed to fix it but 100ish miles later it failed again so I ran the same process but with a pressure bleeder this time and got the same results, fixed for 100ish miles. The original fluid looked bad and I thought I got most of it out, it could've been the wrong fluid. The codes; P25A2, C05B0-00, C2A1B. I can get them to clear but not for long. The C05B0 indicates a leak in the front circuit (which is bone dry) so I'm thinking of doing the bleed process on that front again today and I don't know if that's taboo to just do the front but at this point it seems like it's worth the try anyway. The new master cylinder/module unit is supposed to get here today. But now I'm pretty much convinced this install is over my head. I've called several shops and some mobile guys that I know but this thing is like radio active material, scary wise. I did get 2 local shops say they should be able to do it, one says he has the SPS2 programing capability. And with the battery disconnected is there supposed to be pedal resistance, mine is to the floor, then if I pump it I can get some resistance. I had a panic stop prior to this issue which may have contributed from what I read. And on the first attempt to bleed and hydraulic test the scanner listed things to look for and one was any gaps between the pad and rotors which I did notice on the RF corner and I removed the outer pad (where the gap was) cleaned it and the hardware and didn't see a gap after that but will re-check it. I read that if pushing the caliper pistons back then you're supposed to open the bleeder so as to not push fluid backwards into the abs module or it will damage it. If that's true then that's also a possibility from the previous owner having the brakes changed before I got it. I'm using an XTool ip500 scanner. Any suggestions, questions and comments welcome.

      Next Friday will be my 6 week point from my right knee replacement.  The surgeon says it will be fine if I choose to drive after this checkup.  I know I could drive now but best to do as my surgeon (and my wife) tell me.  Richard compared being 62 to 72.  I remember when I was in my early 60's I was experiencing slow but regular decline in my mobility.  Thanks to good medical support,  i continued to fight the speed and spread of this decline. During my 60's I worked on non-surgical methods and just when I turned 70, my orthopedic surgeon recommended joint replacements.  In a little over a year, I had one shoulder and both knees replaced.  This hasn't been a terribly fun experience, but worth the discomfort as my future mobility health trajectory has reversed.  It is a treat to now be watching my mobility. balance and confidence steadily improve!
