Suburbans with Auto-ride.....

Recommended Posts

Can someone give the "basic" idea on how the Auto-ride system works? I understand that it is to keep the rear end of the vehicle "level" when loaded with cargo or a trailer hooked to the vehicle but I am curious on the actual working of the system. Does it bleed out extra air while sitting after a load or trailer has been removed from the vehicle. Is the air exiting the system something that can possibly be heard in a quite garage? Where does this air exit the system.... out of the shock body(s) somewhere? Is there a max PSI that is allowed before or a timer on the pump that allows the pump to only run for so long before it will shut off? I would just like a general "overview" of the systems workings so I can be better educated on how it works/should work.
