4.8 hp?

Hi I just picked up my, new to me, 2001 gmc sierra two wheel drive extended cab four door. Would any one know how much horse power and torque the 4.8 vortex engine puts out.

For the '06 model, the 4.8 liter V8 specs are:

 

285 HP@5200 RPM

295 ft-lbs of torque at 4000 RPM

Pretty good looking numbers but you do have to rev it quite a bit to get them.

I had a 99 gmc, old body style, 3 door. The last of the 5.7 with 255hp.Great truck, but once my 18 year got hold of it,I was going through 150 to 175 bucks a week in fuel. That was when gas was .70 cents a litre @3.78 litres per US gallon.

 

Now we are at .98 cents per litre. needless to say he doesn't get a hold of it that much anymore.
