Theft Lock Radio

Anyone know how to reset the radio's TheftLock feature? I recently bought a replacement radio off eBay for my truck. It'll work fine in the accessory position but when I turn the truck on the radio locks. I'm guessing it's got the seller's vehicle's VIN memorized and when it sees mine it locks. Is there any way to override or reset this myself or do I have to go to the stealer?

Thanks

You'll need to go to the stealership so they can charge you an arm and a leg(=to a gallon of gas!) to reprogram the radio.

GM needs to cut this theftlock nonsense out. Time for GM to face facts and realize all of it's OE radio's are, have been, and always will be? crap when compared with aftermarket gear. To somehow think theftlock protects them is stupid of GM and it makes things difficult on their customers. A simple, cheap swap of a defective OE radio for another of the same OE radio requires a trip to the dealer or dealers as there are at least some out there which haven't mastered the tech2 device.

I have a OE 2005 radio (not in my truck) with all it's LCD backlights burned out. Easiest, cheapest, quickest solution should be to buy/swap it with a OE radio of the same type from ebay, ah but not when theftlock is part of the equation. :D

GM cut this theftlock nonsense out, there is no need to protect ANY crappy OE radio's.

Ahhhh I feel better now, however the radio backlight is still un-readable.
