Water leak on 1999 Silverado

Ok guys I have a water leak on my passenger side of my truck.

Usually I never see any water and this happens rarely but still happens and I would like to get it fixed.

So after my truck was parked, leaned with the passenger side higher than the driver side, I noticed some water in the door weather stripping on the bottom. I then pulled off the door sill, gray long plastic thing that is by the carpet and and runs the length of the cab.

But anyhow there was about a HALF inch of water towards the front!!!! What the crap?? where is this water coming from??

anyone else have this problem??

Check your windshield seals....i had a problem where water woudl find its way from the top seal of the windwheild all the way down to the passenger side speaker. I finally figured out that there was a small hole in the seal of the windshield so i went out and got a tube of silicon and sealed it up

I have a 99 silverado and I was getting water on the floor. What happened to me was the plastic that covers the speaker in the door was curled in and letting the water in a heavy rain roll out on the door and over the weather stripping. This puddled up right in the corner. It took 4 days for it to dry out with the rug up. I put extra plastic over the opening and have not had a problem since. Hope this helps

it is definitly water and my heater core was replaced not to long ago so...

blade, what plastic did you replace?? I took some of the plastic off that was around the speaker because it was rattling with my aftermarket speakers but i don't know how the water would get into the cab and not just stay in the door??

opsbear7, how did you find the leak? I think that is what it might be and the plastic in the door is just allowing it to come in. I still don't understand how it gets into the cab from the door?

whats up? i have a tahoe 2001 with a sun roof. one day i notice it was raining hard and my foot is getting wet while i am sitting in the truck. only to find out that the drain for the sun roof weas clooged at the bottom of the truck and the water would trickle down the sid e wall of the inside of the truck. if you have a sun roof, in the front of the sun roof tracls are two little holes, one on the left and on on the right. the sun roof drain down the side of the truck where the windsheild is supported. it then drain out two holes out side the truck right behind the front tire undreneath the black plastic molding. mines was cloged with leaves from fall that got cought up under the plastic molding blocking the water from comming out. i also cleaned the sun roof tracks up top

Hey guys, Similar problem... I have an 04 silverado ext. cab. A few weeks ago I noticed water collecting along the door on the drivers side... much like the originators post described just on the other side. I pulled all of the trim off, pulled out the back seat, and rolled back the carpet and padding. This all took me about an hour or so. I then sat in the cab while my dad sprayed the truck down with the hose. Almost immediately water started streaming down from the rear window seal. I have a fixed (not sliding) window with defrost. I discovered almost exactly where the leak is by jumping in the bed and shining a flashlight through the edge of the window. In the areas where it is leaking you can see that the seal is pulling away on the other side of the glass. I called a couple places and it looks like $150 to take the window out and reseal it. They said it may be possible to patch it for like $65....Couldn't tell without looking at it.

Now for my soapbox... :driving: What is the deal with GM and waterleaks? This is the second truck in a row that I have had water leak issues. My first was with a 2002 Avalanche and the midgate window.. (total nightmare) :sigh:

So I figured that I would try a regular pick-up instead and now I get this crap.

I haven't had any driveline problems, no mechanical failures, or any other 'serious' issues, but I get water leaks... Why are the big 3 losing ground to the japanese do ya think? It's called quality.

Bad water leaks can be serious trouble... Upon further reading I've found that the Airbag Control Module is under the drivers seat. If the car is flooded or the carpets are severely soaked(as is my case), you're supposed to have the module inspected because if it got wet it could fire off the next time you start the engine. Just what I've read (Haynes). It would be a rude awakening that's for sure.
