Bug deflector double sided tape

I got the GM bugdefelctor and put it on my hood. The second step of the install is to take off the door weatherstripping and marks off something with a greese pencil. I can't really understand the directions for this part. Anyone here know what they mean? What are you supposed to stick down with the double sided tape they give you with the bug deflector kit?

The tape is provided to tape down the side windshield mouldings,If you don't tape them down the mouldings have a tendency of flapping and making a "tapping-like" noise which will drive you crazy driving down the road!

I too bought the GM bug shield for my /06 truck and found that the middle bottom of the shield rested on the lower hood lip. The shield flexes slightly as the truck moves and air pushes against it, and if the hood edge is in contact with the bottom of the shield, this small back and forth movement will take the paint off quickly, which will result in rust.

Does your defelctor fit the same way, i.e. adequate clearance from the hood edge on the outside of shield, but touching the hood edge in the middle? This is the reason why I never installed mine.

No, mine doesn't contact the hood at all, and I went over it pretty closely too. It clears the hood pretty uniformly all the way around, and actually looks pretty good.

I noticed some weatherstipping was comming lose on the driver's side extended cab door. I used some weatherstripping adheasive to glue it down. I will do the same with those front window molding ones. I can't really hear mine flapping.
