any ideas?

bought a 2000 1/2 ext cab 4x4 with 5.3 yesterday with 138000kms . checked the trans fluid and it was very dark. got it flushed and filter changed today but now when i leave the stop light( in drive) the truck is guttless and doesn't want to down shift. goes good in 1st and 2nd but 3rd is were it starts to lag. does the cable need to be adjusted? did the flush clog up some valves? should i disconnect the battery to reset trans?

Check to see if it set any codes. Some codes may not trigger the check engine light.

Check the level after it's warmed up. You never know, maybe they didn't get enough in there.

problem solved

took it back to the speed lube place and they were great.

the service manger took it for a drive and agreed with me that there was no down shifting from a stop while in drive. of course the drain plug head is toast so we dropped the pan to check everything over. we had to take the frt drive shaft out to do it. one of the solenoids at the frt of the trans was seized, had to press quite hard to free it up. cleaned eveything up and installed new filter. took it for a test drive and it felt like a new truck, way more power then when i bought it. and the shop never charged me a dime. must have stirred things up with the flush.

proper maintanece goes a long way. hope this helps somebody else.
