Need hot wire when I turn on my headlights

I need a hot when I turn on my headlights on my '04 1500 CC 4x4. I removed my stock radio hoping to tap into the wire that turns and dims the lights in the radio, but couldn't find one. I used one of those needle tester the one where you ground it and and probe till the lights comes on in the handle when you find a hot . Anybody knows where else I could find a hot when I turn on my headlights? If you could tell me where and what color the wire is I would greatly appreciate it. Thankyou!

Would the wire at the headlight bulb be such a terrible choice?

I'd like to keep it in the inside of the truck, since I've already ran the wire and already cut enough to go the radio. Any other suggestions?

I'd like to help, but I'm afraid I don't understand what you're trying to do.

What I'm trying to do is light up the 3 lights that are on the Homelink buttons. I'd like to be able to turn the 3 Homelink buttons on when I turn on my parking lights.

I was hoping to just tap into a wire thats hot when you when I turn on my parking lights. Also I was wondering if I were to tap into a switched hot, would I be overloading the circuit? It's just 3 tiny lights. Thankyou!

Aaahh, I see where you're going with this. Do you want them to dim with the dash lights or just to come on with the parking lights?

Hmmm...the way I would do it would be to tie into the instrument cluster lights from the dimmer control.

I don't think so since those lights draw little current.
