Just out of curiosity who would win a drag race out of a 2002/03 1500 5.3 ext cab 2wd 3.73 rear vs a 2002/03 1500h.d. "crew cab" (more weight) 6.0 liter 3.73 2wd??? p.s. that is the only way you can get a 6.0 in a 1/2 ton is in the 1500 hd crew cab right???

reg 1500 look at the Motor Trend times, they have 0-60 times  and 1/4 mile on what you basically described, the reg 1500 with 5.3 would smoke it. Remember the H.D. has the 2500 H.D. underpinnings, just different body, and not as "H.D."

Acutally you could probably find a dealer, order a 6.0 and have them put it ina reg 1500.  Warranty would be gone if you had one, but ahey, you'd have a unique ride.

Well as long as you were doing that...

 

Why not put the 5.7L LS6 engine from a Z06 Corvette in there?  Lighter than the iron block 6.0L and of course, way more powerful.

 

And my 5.3L ext. cab "feels" like it's good for very high 15's in the quarter at best.  I'm sure that's quicker than an 1500HD.
