99 3/4 ton Silerado

Would anyone who owns a 1999 new style 3/4 ton Silverado extended cab short wheel base truck please reply to this message with the GVWR that is located on the drivers door. I seem to have a mistake in mine and I am trying to confirm it. Thank you

If I'm not mistaken it is 8600 lbs.

Mine says 7200 pounds which is a mistake, but how do I get it corrected???

Mine also says 7200 lbs which from everything I can find out is correct. They did not build it to compete with the old style 2500 trucks. The first time you can find a new body style 2500 at more than 7200 lbs. is in the 2500HD's.

I have the eight bolt axles which should be 8600 not 7200 pounds. Even the older 8 bolt 3/4 ton's are rated at 8600 pounds.Anyone know how or where I can go to get it changed??

If your truck is 2wd, it is no mistake.

Looks like both numbers quoted here, 8600 and 7200, could be correct. What drivetrain you have will determine if your's is correct. I'm thinking you do have a 2wd and that your sticker is correct.

I'm also glad that my memory isn't failing me, when Jim said that his was 7200 I thought I'd lost it. I knew the 4x4 2500s on the light duty frame had the same rating as our 2000 K2500 old style.

The thing I'm still trying to figure out here is why the 2wd is lower than the 4x4, about the first time I've seen that.
