I have a 99 Silverado that the 3rd door window makes a lot of noise at highway speeds. Does anyone know if there is a proper fix for this?? :I had heard that there is a new latch available?(

You might be able to adjust the striker to fix your problem.

There is a TSB out on this. I think it mentioned replacing the rear windows. I'll check if I can find it when I go home late tongiht. If I can't find it I'm sure someone else in here will be able to help you out.

I took my 2000 Sierra in for the same thing. Dealer took care of it with no problems. This Thursday they are going to replace the rear 1/4 windows for the same problems.

Why replace the glass? Sounds like a rubber gasget problem?

Service guy told me they needed to replace the complete window. I don't care what they do as long as they fix it and it doesn't cost me anything.

My cousin has that same problem and the dealership said his warranty covered it. They replaced his window and charged him nothing. It was just a pain in the butt because it took so long to do.....oh well, that's what you get with a dealership!

But what is the problem with the glass? Does it warp or something?

if its the hinge, or gasket, or latch, why not just change the required part, why replace everything?

I'm not under warrenty so if this becomes a problem, I'm sure fixing the problem, rather than the entire glass would be cheapier.

I'm surpized that the dealers and GM don't say "oh thats normal" like the engine knock.

I had mine replaced about two weeks ago. I think it may be mostly a problem with the clip. And unlike some in the past they don't drill through the glass but rather "glue" it to the glass and I don't think they can put new clips on without damage to the glass. Seems like a stupid design to me. But what do I know? Just my 2 cents. :yingyang: :yingyang:

Hi there

My '99 Silverado did the same thing. Dealer fixed it by replacing the window. I guess the glass ang gasket are a single unit. That's the only explanation I can think of.
