97 K1500 w/ 245's

I have a 97 K1500 std cab long bed that I'm going to sell. The tires on it are crap and are 245/75/R16's. I have a set of 265/75R16's that I want to put on it, but am wondering how much it would cost to get the spedometer and anti-lock brakes reprogrammed for the bigger tires. Does anybody have any experience with thtis?

I went from 245's to 265's in my 2500.

According to my GPS my speedo is dead on.

I had nothing reprogrammed.

I was pretty sure the speedo was real close if not right on before the change.

On this same note...

I talked to my cousin a few months ago...he had gone to 285s in his 2500 and recently sold, because his MGP got sooooo crappy.

We were discussing gear ratios, tire sizes and MPG

When I mentioned speedo recalibraion, he got kinda quiet and said I had hit the nail on the head. His milage was probably just fine if not better.

He didn't think to recalibrate his speedo or at least factor in the % change when trying to figure in his MPG.

When I went to the dealer to get a part while I was waiting to get into the tire place, they service guy said it'd be about $40 to do the spedometer and the ABS recalibration. I was glad he knew what I meant, cause I've called other service places and they were clueless about what I was talking about.
