I need some smart people on gears

Ok. i have a 5.3 h.o. and i pretty much know what my trucks future holds as far as mods go except one thing i don't know about. i have no idea about gears. right now i have 3.42 and i know that there is 3.71 and 4.10 but what is the difference as far as...well everything

3.42's are a taller gear so they have a higher top end, meaning also that will take a bit more revving to get into peak power band.

 

3.73's-4.10's are shorter gears and will get you into the peak power band sooner. An example would be if you are on the highway doing 65 with 4.10 gears you would be doing 2000rpm's in OD. 3.73 would be 1800 @ 65, 2000 @ 70. Just keeps you closer to peak power at all times.

k thanks alot. now i kinda get it. so since i'm going with a remote mounted turbo then the 4.10 gears would be best to get to higher rpms sooner meaning my turbo kickin in sooner?
