07 Truck gas V8s use new oil filter...

Found out the hard way the other day (old filter off, new filter doesn't fit) but all the '07 Truck/SUVs Gen 3 V8s are using Delco part # PF48. Not sure about the LS2s, but the 4.8, 5.3, 6.0, 6.0Max are all using this. It's the same oil filter they use on the 06 Corvette Z06, has an added check valve.

 

Honestly, it's not much different than the PF44, but the PF44 and any aftermarket cross-referenced filters will not thread onto the new engines.

yea, i went in wally world to buy oil and filter for new 07classic. Of course no book for 07 so went with 06 figuring it was same. Glad I had spare truck to go back and get another filter.

David, please do not take this wrong, but this is one reason you should be going to a REAL Parts Store or the Dealer to get your filters. Please do not tell us you you bought a Fram.

 

Of course, please remember it is your truck and ultimately it is up to you.

Purolator has a cross to the 48. L12222.

Man, I'm glad I took the time to search and find this thread. Thanks Shark! It saved me lots of time today, since the local parts store showed the old (wrong) filter.

 

Had to settle for what was available, though. No Mobil 1 filter in this town. Went with a Purolator.

David, please do not take this wrong, but this is one reason you should be going to a REAL Parts Store or the Dealer to get your filters. Please do not tell us you you bought a Fram.

 

No offence Trey, but I wouldn't go to the dealer to buy a stick of gum! It would probobly cost $5, plus $4 for them to install it in a bag to hand to you, and another $9 to inspect it before it goes in your bag. But on the other hand I wouldnt go to Walmart either. I stick with a close by Advance Auto, a major gear head I went to high school with works there part time. He's a Ford guy, but knows his stuff. But are the new filters for the 07s bigger than the previous filters? I hope so, mines comparable to a 1.8l Acura Integra oil filter.

In your owner manual it has the "NORMAL MAINTANCE REPLACEMENT PARTS" and there is a list of replacement parts. Check it out there is some interesting reading in the and might save you a lot of headaches.

Sam, no offense taken. Being in the Auto Parts Industry (CARQUEST) a Dealer's Parts Dept is really a competitor of ours. However, their shops, in most cases, are a good customer to us. As you can see we have an odd relationship with a New Car Dealer. It is also interesting to hear comments on this board concerning Dealerships. In our part of the world, we find in many cases they can be very competetive with parts. Not always, but sometimes they really will throw us a curve ball.

Oops! Sorry Trey, I thought you worked for the parts dept at a dealer. The dealer I got my truck from is always overpriced. I remember when I first bought the truck, a little while after I went back and asked how much the factory molded mudguards were, the ones with the white bow tie on it. They said $80. I then asked how much for just the rear 2, they said $80.

Nope- I'm a total newb on the truck forums. Traded my '04 GTO and got back into a Silverado just a few weeks ago (marriage changes priorities LOL).

 

I really like being back in a truck, though.
