I believe that Jegs or Summit may offer free shipping on the new GM heads, but I'm not positive about that.

I'm usually reluctant to buy reworked heads from a machine shop that I am unfamiliar with.

Be VERY careful of re-worked heads. Alot of places will cut corners and you'll regret it in the long run.

Heads are the most important part of an engine and I would spend the money for new...just a cent's worth ...

Any time I buy a used set of heads, I expect to have to change all of the guides, all of the springs, and half of the valves before I'll be able to use them. I also expect to have to have them milled.

I always figure that into the price that I'll pay for the heads.

GM's completely assembled vortec heads are a bargain.

I was able to get a new set of bare heads, if I had gotten the stock GM vortec heads, it would have been a waste of money for me, my engine guy is just going to tear them down and redo them to his liking anyway. My builder normally does race engines for Nascar, so I think I can trust his judgment. Thanks for all of the help!!
