New 4WD Transfer Case

Recommended Posts

A brand new Isuzu-supplied NP1 two-speed part-time electric shift 4WD transfer case is transmissions. The transfer case features a strong, light aluminum case and allows easy shifting into and out of four-wheel-drive at any speed without leaving the cab. (The vehicle must be stopped to shift into 4L0). The unit also has a neutral position for flat towing the truck behind a recreational vehicle.

New dual-cone synchronizers improve shift quality at low temperatures. The transfer case also features a "random link" pattern chain for quieter operation.

With a dash-mounted four-button selector, the choice of shifter positions include:

2HI ? Two-wheel-drive for normal roads

4HI ? A part-time four-wheel-drive system, where all four wheels are used to drive the vehicle only under special circumstances, such as for serious off-road operation or in snow or mud

4LO ? Four-wheel-drive low, for use when a high level of torque may be needed, such as for steep hill-climbing or towing a boat up a launch ramp; it can also be used to control the speed of the truck to move at a very slow pace (eliminating the need for constant braking).

N ? Neutral, also available for towing. The procedure for shifting in and out of neutral is found in the owner?s manual.
