Squeaky door??

My 2006 extended cab Silverado only has 900 miles on it, and it has developed an annoying squeak. It is on the drivers side, where the suicide doors meet. I know its got to be where the front door meets the back door, because it does not make the noise if I drive with the front door open. It squeaks when braking and hitting bumps. I have WD-40'd all the rubber and basically the entire opening of the doors, and that has not helped. I have noticed that the plastic piece that is on the back door section (the large plastic piece, sounds as if the squeak is between the door handle and the top of the door) is somewhat loose, and I have popped some of it loose, and shot WD-40 in there too, and it did not seem to help. Anyone had the same thing, or something else I can try? Thanks in advance!

Try wiping all the oil off. That's what I did, and I have not had a problem since. Use a paper towel. Wipe all the oil off the black metal loop that the latch hooks on at the top of the door.

Well, it seemed to be going away, but it is back in full action now (the squeak).

 

Anyone else got some things I can try?

I wanted to throw this to the top and see if anything worked.

The noise has nothing to do with weatherstrips and/or oily stuff.

It only takes one simple adjustment.

 

1. DO NOT adjust your upper striker at all!

 

2. Take a 13mm wrench or socket, and slightly loosen the 3rd door lower latch striker. It is what you see when you open the door, and look at the truck lower jamb.

 

3. Move it *slightly* inward, then re-tighten the 13mm bolts. Don't lose track of your original settings for the striker. Just the slightest adjustment will fix the creak noise.

My rear driver's side makes random poping noises when driving around - do you think adjusting the door might also fix that? Or is this a completely different/annoying problem?

I wouldn't adjust anything....I'm assuming since it's an 06 it's still under warranty. Let your dealer take care of it!
