Odd brake problem

Hello all. I have a 1999 OBS Yukon 4x4. I just did full front and rear brakes about two months ago (rotors, pads, shoes, drums and hardware). Now recently my brakes have been acting strange. I'm not losing any fluid or anything and the wheel cyliners looked brand new when I did the job. It seems that brake psi changes with engine speed, vehicle speed and is very pronounced if I'm negotiating a turn in say a parking lot.

For example, when going thru a fast food drivethru my driver rear wheel makes a loud clunking noise and tries to lock up on me! And that's just with very very light pressure on the pedal. Also the rear brakes like to lock up with very light pedal pressure (usually just in the morning but sometimes does it even after an hour of driving).

It never did this before and I was thinking I messed something up when I did my brakes, but upon inspection everything appears normal inside those drums. Normally I'd just live with this problem but I'm gonna have big problems this winter when I go to make a normal stop and the rear comes around on me because the drums locked up too easy.

Anybody have any ideas? Thanks!

Most likely you did not put the rear brakes back to gaither correctly, there over adjusted, or you got grease or some type of fluid on them and know the pads are glazed over.

Yeah that was my first thought too, but I've checked them over and it all looks good. It wasn't my first brake job by any means. I don't notice any glazing of the shoes either. It must be a problem with the adjusters. Maybe I'll change them. The stock ones were fine, so I just added some anti-seize and re-used them. Thanks for the input.

I would take the brakes apart again and check everything, including the the adjusters. (the adjusters will only work when going backwards and using the brakes). It sounds like the rear brakes are assembled incorrectly. Do a web search and see if you can find a picture of the entire assembly for reference.
