'03 radio swap Help!!

My '03 silverado has the usual single CD am/fm radio, and i wonder what has to be done or if i can install the 6 disc head unit from say a burb or hoe?? i've been doing some homework: i know it has to be programmed to match the truck vin, the harness is the same for any stock radio from 03 to 06, but i dont have the bose or xm option, not sure if that matters or not?? has anyone done this?? im looking at some on ebay right now which claim to be almost new units taken out for aftermarket ones. my buddy works at a dealership and talked to the radio guy there and he said he hasnt done that kind of swap but thought it COULD cause security issues such as no start alarm issues until it was or could be programmed. i would be putting this in myself which is no biggie but the real ? is can the dealership get it going????????? any help will be great!!

while i am not an expert i am pretty sure you have to have a bose set up to have a 6 disc changer. everyone that i know that has the 6 disc has the bose and bucket seats.
