2001 Tahoe 2wd service engine light

Hi,

I was wondering if you can figure out what is wrong with my Tahoe. The check engine light just came on out of the blue. Nothing seems to be wrong with the truck, it runs really smooth. But when I connect it to the obd-ii reader, I get code p1416. Can you tell me what I would need to do to fix this code? It's some type of airport malfunction and I don't even know where to begin looking. thanks for your help

The P1416 code is telling you the AIR system for the passengers side is not working correctly. This may mean that the hose is disconnected or torn or the checkvalve is bad and will not open to allow air into the exhaust stream.

I had the same exact code, a new valve is around $40.00 bucks and easy to install, the tube that connects to the manifold is pretty fragile so don't bend it up. The valve is one way, if it senses air going the other way, it will pop up a light.

Replace it and recheck your light and your good to go. Mine has not come on since replacing.

Like Drumset said, check your hoses too, a cracked hose or lose one will set off the light too.

let me know if you need help.

This light actually came on twice already, both times I scanned it and erased the code. It would be good for a few months and then I saw the 2nd time the light came on again. I don't know what to make of it. If it's detecting a fault/leak, shouldn't the light come back on fairly quickly after I erase the code? I've reset it maybe a week now and the light has not come back on. Not sure if I should mess with something that isn't truly broken...what do you guys think?

I just got the same error code the other night on my Tahoe. Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated (take it to the dealer, fix it myself, etc.)?

Isn't there two check valves, one on each side of the engine? You posted in 2006 "damn" you might not ever remember. Well if you do could you let me know?
