my friend has a 1994 suburban and the factory equelizer and tape deck quit working. the display and adjustment buttons no longer light up and the radio wont play, the radio does turn on but the clock just stays at 1:00. is it possible to get the stock radio to play with out the equalizer, do i need to rewire something or just disconnect the eq/tape deck ? thanks for any help.

the controller for the radio is under the dash. its metal and has about 3 or 4 screws holding it in. it has probably gone bad. you might check at a local stereo shop or junk yard for one.

I have both the controller (under the dash) and the "button unit" ...left over from my old 88...i've been trying to sell them for awhile if you're interested.
