Climate controll problems

Hello, New user:P Anyway my problem is with my 1999 chevy tahoe 5.7 votec. I have replaced the Blower selector switch on my climate control twice ,and have replaced the unit itself once.(the first time thought i had a bad unit) something keeps burning up the connector in the back?? is there a voltage regulator or something that regulated the current to the climate control.?? The first thing to go wrong with theseblower selector switch is the fan wont work on the high setting...plz help

Have you ever replaced the connector itself? If not, you need to do so. Probably just a poor connection that causes high resistance and burns the terminals. There is no voltage regulation involved.

I don't know how the 1999 stuff works but in the older chevys the high position on the switch supplied power directly to the blower motor while the lower settings passed thru some resisters.

 

In any case as the motor ages the brush material builds up between comuntators effectively shorting out the motor.

 

Translation=the older the blower motor gets, the more current it will draw.

 

The increased current may be burning up your switch.

Thanks guys all of you. I will try replacing the connector itself. is that more than likely a GM only part or...? would any parts place be able to get one?
