93 Yukon 5.7 TBI...heads..cam..intake questions

I am currently rebuilding/beefing up my 4L60E for my Yukon right now. Its gonna be another 2-3 weeks before I am done. I thought while its down I might as well throw on some new heads/cam/intake manifold to spice it up a little.

 

I ran into a nice deal on a set of worked vortec heads. So thats what I will definetly be running there. Im having trouble with cam choice though. Im not to familiar with the cams available for the tbi engine.

 

I know the stock cam/heads/intake plain suck so anything will be better.

 

I would like to have something a good amount more aggressive then the stock cam. Id like to keep it real torquey but I dont want the horsepower to fall flat at 4000-4500 I cant remember what the specs were on the stock one, or the heads.

 

I will be going with a 2100 stall, 3.73's..headers. (Gears and headers are already installed)

 

ALSO, emissions are of no concern to me. I just dont want to have tuning/computer problems up the butt though.... Ive done a cam swap in my 04 GTO which was no big deal. Worked great but the old school tbi has me stumped.

TBI works ALOT like the old carb setups did, so you don't really have to worry much about reprogramming or anything like that. As for cams, I'd say either call Jegs and tell them what you're doing, or contact one of the big cam companies (Crane, Lunati, Comp, etc) and see what each of them recommends and compare prices.

Ive read that going over 204 degrees on the intake duration for the cam will start to have problems with some sensors or the computer. (cant remember exactly where i read it)

 

 

Ive seen some of the cams that are available for the tbi 350 and they are not very impressive to me. 194/214 duration..... .398"/.442" lift.... is one of them
