My neighbor is selling an '89 full size blazer 4X4 truck for $ 5,500 or best offfer. The truck has 102K miles on it and it appears to be in very good shape. No rust, or other body damage and I believe it has a 350 engine with a 4 speed auto ttranmsission in it. I am just wondering if this is good deal. Last time I drove a similar vehicle was back in 1982. It was a 76 Blazer and it guzzled gas. All it got was about 8 MPG and that was in 2WD!!!! But it was an awsome vehicle as it would go just about anywhere. Would this 89 version get better fuel economy? I assume it has front lockout hubs, which the '76 version did not.

I think in '87 GM started using Throttle Body Fuel Injection instead of carburetion on the 350 motor. That should get you better fuel economy, my truck has TBI and it gets anywhere from 14-17 MPG, depending on how and where I'm driving.

Do you know what rear gears the '89 has? That will affect fuel economy too.

For a decent Blazer...That's about as far as they'll depreciate.

'78-'93 will sell for that price range if it's not falling apart around here.
