For those with older Chevy trucks, how many miles does it have on engine and trans? Any major work?

I have a 74 1/2 ton w/150k and hope the trans and engine last for another 30k

As long as its given proper maintenence and not driven like a madman these drivetrains last a long long time.  You should be ok for at least another 30K and most likely much more.  Around here the bodies are gone long long before the truck, so not many are still being used in the high mileage state, they all have become parts vehicles or old farm trucks that never see the road.

I agree with that others, just make sure you do plenty of maintance to it and don't be too hard on it.  With that I would expect the motor and tranny to last atleast 200k miles, if not more.

I have no idea what the mileage on my truck is..   The odo just hit 40K, but God only knows how many times it has before.  It supposedly has a newer engine with about 45k on it, and it runs really strong, but it leaks oil like an Exxon tanker.

The tranny is about shot, and I suspect it's the original TH350.  It's getting yanked and swapped for a beefed up 700R4 this spring, unless some money problems arise

Not to bust your chops but I think you mean pre-ECM/PCM controled vehicles.

OBD-I was early 90's to 1995

OBD-II was 1996 to present

Well, if I recall it ran without much tranny fluid for a bit.  That may be a small part of why this particular tranny is toast. :(
