I just bought a 94 S-10 PU and Ive heard they go thru fuel pumps often. I've already replaced mine. I have the 4.3 engine.

I had a '91 S-10 Pickup with an auto and a 4.3, never had a problem with any of the drivetrain, drove it from 135,000 to 165,000 mile. The body on it got rusty towards the end though, and the blue paint had started to peel. I really liked the truck, it was just time for something better.

If it has the "W" motor, they are notorious for the CPI injector going bad, the poppet valves at the ends of the injector leaking, fuel pumps, EGR solenoids, and an ocassional ECM. If it's a "Z" motor, they have issues with the fuel line inside the tank, from the pump to the hard line, and the EGR ports get plugged in the intake manifold.

We had a '93 that we beat to death. Drivetrains are pretty stong especially the 4.3 motor. Ours had probably a first generation 4 wheel antilock brake system that was scary. Slam on it and in the last 50 feet your stopping distance actually started to INCREASE. 10 plus years later the braking systems were recalled.

If they have been put through hard use in their lives, the back glass and tailgate ratlle like you wouldn't believe. Good trucks!

I thought the Z motor was avail only on Typhoons and Syclones?
