I'm looking at buying a 2004 2500 GMC with a 6.0L gas, crew cab, cloth int.

4 wheel drive.

 

39,000 miles

 

Very nice inside and out.

 

There asking around $24000 for it.

I just got (jan2) a brand new 2006 2500HD 6.0L 4x4 LT1 for 24,XXX. granted this is an after rebate/gmcard price, but why by used when new is the same?

Id pass, you can get a new one for a lil more. Id say its worth $18k tops

That sounds like a good price, according to what I turned up on NADA. I looked at Kelley Blue Book, but they don't have '04 GMC 2500 pricing available. Do a more specific search at http://www.nadaguides.com/home.aspx?l=1&w=28&p=0&f=5000

Check Kelly of Edmunds for a price in your area. Anything else is just a guess.

Check new prices in your area as well. With all the rebates, etc. you may be able to get something newer for the saem money or at least have some leverage to deal. Research is your friend and may save you $5,k or more for several hours on the internet.

That seems high. I was looking at used 3/4 tons the other day, and the gassers were going for cheaper than that. It really depends on the area though and gas prices. Gas prices are usually cheaper where I live, but there is a strong demand for diesel trucks.
