My best friend (grew up together) is a Master Tech w/Toyota and works on the Hybrids. He recently sold his Silverado and bought a Toyota Highlander Hybrid. He's told me how much he loves true instant throttle response and he's gotten it up to 125mph before the engine kicked in to start charging.

 

As for the batteries, I wouldn't be to concerned with those quite yet. I'll treat them like nmh batteries for r/c cars. They'll just keep coming out with better cell capacity or use a LiPoly.
