What is in the Tow Package?

So I just bought a 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD SLE 3s Classic with the dmax/allison and at the delivery the salesman tells me it does not have the tow package but not to worry as the 3/4 ton tow package is only the hitch receiver anyway and aftermarket is better. My buddies say that is wrong and that there is no tranny coller, smaller battery and no 7 pin wiring at all. I did look under the bead at the spare tire and there is a pig tail for a 7 pin harness but I don't know about the tranny cooler and bigger battery. I am looking at a 11000lb fifth wheel trailer and am most worried about the tranny cooler. Help, do I need to add a tranny cooler? and if so any recommendations.

I don't know if on the HD's if the tranny cooler is standard with the Ally automatic. I suppose it's possible that the cooler would be there, but the only way to know for sure would be to look and see if you have a tranny cooler in front of your radiator. The towing package also included a high capacity air cleaner.

 

I was under the impression, that the towing package had the hitch, 7-pin plug, coolers etc...

 

There was another option (about $35) for fifth wheel wiring...

 

Your Dmax would have dual batteries...
