2002 Tahoe Instal Questions

I am installing a dvd player, subs, and an amp in a budies tahoe and came across a problem. There are two wire harnesses that plug into the stock deck. If only the main harness is pluged in, none of the stock speakers will play. The harness adapter kit that we were given only taps into the main harness. Because of this only the subs will put off any music. None of the stock speakers work. I am just curious if anyone has had this same problem and knows how to fix it. I was told by the Best Buy install guys that we need to find the stock amp and connect the line in and line out wires together inorder to complete our circuit. If this is true, where is the stock amp? Thanks for any help.

One more question. Has anybody installed a DVD player in a car and knows how to get around wiring a ground to the e-brake? We tried just grounding the wire but it didn't work.

What kinda DVD head unit is it ? And also the other wireing pluge in the back i think goes to a door chime or something that was on the old radio if it had RDS. I had to get a specal wireing harness for it.

its a dual head unit, and i don't think the stereo is the RDA model because its a 2002 tahoe and the radio does not display station names and such, and the door chimes through its own speaker. We figured out that the speakers will only work when the alarm system has been turned on and then off again, kinda a pain in the ass. Thanks for any help.
